Hello! My name is Kate and I am a UX Designer with 10 years of experience as a professional artist and educator.
As a designer, I work to create intuitive and accessible products that are first and foremost useful. As an artist, I study mass communication and how our personal desires are informed by and reflect society. Collaborative, ethical work environments that put the needs of people first are my jam.

Throughout my career as an artist and educator, I have helped assist countless students and professionals bring their projects to fruition.

I’ve worn many hats: UX designer, professor, program director, coordinator, press assistant, and studio technician. My current role is as the first UX Designer at Hudson Crop Insurance, where I work on complex business problems in a vast and robust enterprise policy management system with ever-changing variables, a slue of different users, and all in the heavily regulated crop insurance industry. I love working on these meaty, tough problems with collaborators who have skillsets and perspectives different from my own. I also mentor individuals both locally and remotely in UX. My experience as an educator helps me make the most of jobs like this, and I love a challenge!

I have a B.F.A. in Printmaking from Northwest Missouri State University and an M.F.A. in Visual Art from Arizona State University. In my former career, I was an academic and spent most of my time at the as an instructor at the Kansas City Art Institute and as an Assistant Professor of Art and the Art Program Director at the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas. My artworks are included in various public and private collections, including the Library of Congress and the New York Public Library.
